I love this song! I think it would have been a perfect follow up to Wedding Dress for an international release. I think his English is the best in this song, the lyrics really work and its different from the stuff he’s done, but also got that Taeyang flare!

I still like the Korean version better, maybe cause there is an MV with it and everything, I don’t emotionally connect with the english one as much, even though I can understand it I feel there is some awkwardness with the flow of the lyrics and music and wish it was a bit smoother. Forgetting the pronunciation, I don’t think its bad,but I still think Wedding Dress in Korean is just much better lol

Wedding Dress is okay. His English definitely better in the whole version than in the previews. But I still love the Korean version more. See, this is what happens whe YG releases the Korean version first. We fall in love with that and the English versions just can’t compare.
Connection is my new jam! It’s pure LOVE!! I already know it’s going to be on repeat along with YB’s other songs. The beat is freaking fresh. Definitely want to know who composed/produced the song because YB definitely needs to work with him more! It was amazing! YB’s English was close to perfect; you couldn’t even tell it wasn’t his first language. I could totally see Connection being played on the radio in English speaking countries!!!

I still prefer the Korean version of Wedding Dress, I think it’s more heartfelt (or maybe because it’s the original one). I can’t understand some of the lyrics, maybe he had a hard time recording this because he need to sing the lyrics faster (or rap-like, ungh I can’t explain it) compared to Connection which is a bit slower.

it’s just a thought that popped in my head, but i think that this english version of WD was probably recorded around about the same time as the english version of WUA shaun and lyle mentioned, which is probly why his english isn’t as polished as it is in CONNECTION. just my two cents.
Now that you mentioned that, there’s this part in the chorus:
“If you just know that we belong to each other”
The choreo matches that part some much; another thing in the part where: “I can see you in your wedding dress (as you’re walking down)” the choreo matches that to a T.
My guess, Shaun, Lyle, Aimee worked with this Eng version than the Kor. version.

I love the Korean version of wedding dress even though I don’t understand anything lol but in his English version it’s a little hard to understand but I’m happy that he’s at least putting effort to reach out to his international fans =) I think with each performance of these songs his English will get better. I actually meant YG as in the company itself since from what I remember, Taeyang said he went around the building asking different people to give him their honest opinions about TIS.
And it may be just me but I think Connection would have been a better title track than IBT since most of Taeyang’s fans are more into R&B than pop anyways, but like Toozdae said, we can’t complain too much since we’ve been spoiled quite a lot already.

I agree too. I loved Connections just from the previews and so did most ppl. YB’s fans would love it cause it’s R&B so no talks of selling out, so many ppl say they could see it playing on the radio, it has that hip hop feel that YG promised. Yet it’s the song that they stuck in the album with no promo.
I can see why they didn’t promote Take It Slow because of the content, but never understood why they didn’t want it on the album. It’s pure win. YG does the same with IBT and Connections. PPL didn’t love IBT cause it’s the typical kpop song. Connections is fresh and YB’s voice and english is love. But I can’t complain since I got 2 doses of YB this summer.

the “love triangle” storyline is not very refreshing (given the past tragic MV concepts lol), and I found it quite hard to understand what on earth was going on, I know its about a hangover, but it kinda made me rofl when Daesung was shoving the bottle of pills at YB, the whole “pill” thing was weird and what exactly is his character doing? oh and he was singing “kiss my lips” almost in YB’s ear LOL

Connection, thou, is one of my favorite tracks YB has made. Seriously. Almost all his songs so far has met my expectation.

This is the kind of music style I wanted on his album, at least one song!(not that I was disappointed though, INAG was a breath of fresh air and Move satisfied my TaeKush fetish). And personally I like Connection more than I’ll be there. Its more R&B based than hip hop, its easy to listen to and the lyrics just flow. I feel like this song is more worthy of getting a music video and would be more memorable but I guess they figured IBT would be more ”popie” and sell more so they focused in on that.

I did some researching and Walt Anderson was the one who made the Lyrics for Se7en’s “Money can’t buy love” so I’m guessing Walt Anderson is one of the secret producers. I searched up Peejay I’m not 100% sure if this is him but he also does R&B http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diJ1vMo53vE&feature=channel . Some of these producers I’m not really aware of but it’s cool to see them working with TY.

First of all, I don’t mean to sound mean or that I’m complaining because we’ve all been spoiled but if YG is reading this, it just because I care and want YB to suceed where ever he goes.
I’m very dissapointed and dissatisfy with the English version of WD. If YG really wants to market YB internationally they need to work harder because the song was sloppy jaloppy. The English lyrics wasn’t well translated to fit with the original korean vocal arrangment. Which is sad because the Korean version draws the feelings of where the artist is coming from and gives it to its audience. With the English version not being well put together with proper translation and pronounciation, its hard to understand the concept, and the emotions of the artist.
I have heard a couple of english covers on youtube and thoughts it was well put together (JD Relic). I believe a more well polished English version of WD is possible.
Also, is there a speech coach or anything like that, that is helping YB with pronoucing his english for his english songs?
I have been very unhappy how YG’s been promoting YB. I know YG is trying their best but if they really want YB to world dominate than they should do more homework because they didn’t before and lead to seven not suceeding in America. It would break my heart if YB did the same. Honestly, I’m not a happy consumer and would like YG to work harder in getting to know more of their international audience.

Yes there were a lot of mistakes made and I do wish YG would just hire me already cause I think I would know what I’m doing since I’m so passionate about YB (understandably not the #1 propriety). However, it is what it is, I’ve already aired my grievances. Plus I’ll give YG props because YB is a hard sell.
YB isn’t coming to the US any time soon if ever cause he’s busy with BB. He probably wont do another solo project till 2012. However, I’m happy with what we’ve been given.
Even though YB isn’t coming to the US soon or going on a world tour, we should keep in mind that business is business whether it’s local, domestic or international. I’m expecting professionalism from a well know company because the truth is that in other countires, their music industry is different with a whole new set of culture and norm. If YG is thinking about expanding the they should think and plan well because Kpop is expanding worldwide.

I agree, that’s why they are using YB as an experiment. YG’s money makers are BB and 2NE1. With YB being busy with BB in Japan (YG’s #1 propriety) there isn’t any fear of using him as an experiment to test out how to reach international fans since his solo career is a side project. YB arguably has the most international (or western) fans of any YG artist and has the most appeal outside of normal kpop listeners in the west.
YG already has plans to debut 2NE1 in the US and Se7en is going to continue trying. YG can use YB to see what appeals to a Western audience and how to lay ground work for future projects. Plus YB will be coming out with another album eventually, YG will make plans to see what exactly fans love about him.
Remember this is YGE’s very first time doing something like this, in fact I wasn’t sure how much they planned this. I will say that so far I think their efforts overall (with both SOLAR and SOLAR 2.0) was fair, I’ll grade them a 70%, or a C-. There was a lot they could have done but it is what it is and they didn’t exactly do poorly.

I was looking forward to singing along to Wedding Dress in English,since me trying to sing in Korean is like murdering the Korean language,but unfortunately the singing is very indistinct,but having said that it could have been a lot worse. Although I do question why they didn’t go over it to make sure everything’s spot on.
On the other hand connection is awesome,it almost makes up for it! 😀

gah,his voice no matter what language is pure love.
everyone thinks that his pronunciation in WD not so good, but you should also look at the other side. He speaks very good English for someone that English isnt his first language or the official language in which country he lives. So his pronunciation will still be pretty good.
