Idols vote Taeyang as “Best Male Idol Dancer”

22 idol groups (70 idol stars in total) participated in a survey entitled ‘Best Idols’ by ‘Sports Donga‘ to cast their votes in five categories: Best Vocalist, Best Rapper, Best Dancer, Best Ulzzang (Best Visual), and Best Star Factor/Talent.

Big Bang’s Taeyang beat out the competition as the best male dancer. Suzy shared, “His dancing is very stylish.” JJ Project‘s Jr. said, “He has his own style and groove.”  Votes were cast as follows:

1. Taeyang (37 votes)
2. Taemin, Eunhyuk, Jay Park (6 votes each)
3. Wooyoung (3votes)

2ne1’s Minzy topped the poll for best female idol dancer and fellow Big Bang members G-Dragon was voted ‘Best Male Idol Rapper’ and TOP was voted as ‘Best Male Ulzzang’ (Best “visual” or most good looking.)

Taeyang is widely acknowledged in the industry (as was previously noted here and here) as a great dancer, but validation from your peers is always flattering, particularly in an industry where most performers are required dancing as a necessary skill. His personal style, expressiveness and sheer enjoyment in moving to music is so much more than technique and training – I think it’s what sets him apart from many capable dancers in kpop.  I’m sure that he’s going to be trying out some newer styles in his next solo run and I can’t wait to see how his more joyful and free-er attitude will translate into his dancing.

  1. And yet again, YB tops lists as the best idol dancer. Congrats to him! I find it even more amazing because he hasn’t really done anything as of late in terms of dancing. So it’s mostly his older performances that idols are basing their opinions on and he still won by a landslide.

I’m with you BM. YB’s greatest attributes in dancing have been his style, his feel fr the song and dance, and the unmatched ability of his too bring out emotion in his dancing.

Also, YB also tied for 3rd place in the “Best Star Factir/Talent” category. 🙂

    1. I completely agree. I’m happy he consistently does, and I feel it’s those who are aware of what YB is capable of ‘pulling out of the bag’, that understand how talented of a dancer he really is. Granted it’s been a while since he’s really done much dancing, which is one of the reasons why I can’t wait for his solo work. It will hopefully enlighten a lot of newbies who are unaware of his full potential.

Also with 3rd place for ‘best star factor’ wow I’m pleasantly surprised. Mostly because his been on tour all last year with the group (with no new material released) and it’s been almost three years since he really shined with his own solo release. Yet, it seems the impact he had whether as a solo artist, or within the group, has clearly lasted in the memory of some idols (all this while) for them to still pick him 😀

  2. I’m proud that his peers think so of him.. really ^^ Bluemaid is right 🙂 I would say I prefer his style back then though I know he’s evolving now. Can anyone explain what best star factor is? 🙂
